What an image is
Each entry is a tested installation of open-source software on one of our Linux templates, with the service definition, the database, the reverse proxy and the TLS certificate already wired together. You deploy it on your own server and it stays your server: root access, your data on your disk, nothing phoning home to us.
What it costs
The images are free. You pay for the server they run on, and nothing else — there is no per-seat, per-user or per-message charge on top. The one number to check before ordering is the memory floor on each image's page, since that is what decides which plan you need.
Who keeps it updated
The software is yours to update once it is running, and every guide shows the command for it. We keep the images themselves current, so a fresh deployment starts on a recent version rather than one you have to patch on day one. Each guide also names the files and database that hold your data, which is what you back up before any upgrade.
