Three levels of validation
Proves you control the domain. Issued in minutes after a DNS record, a file or an e-mail check. Right for blogs, apps and most sites.
The CA also checks that your company exists, and its name goes into the certificate. Usually one to three working days.
The strictest company checks a CA performs. Chosen where a regulator, a bank or a procurement team asks for it.
Sell certificates under your own name
Hosting companies and agencies can order from the same catalogue through our API at reseller pricing, paid from a prepaid balance. Orders, validation and reissues are all available programmatically, so certificates can be issued from inside your own billing system.
SSL certificates — FAQ
Which SSL certificate do I need?
For most websites a domain-validated (DV) certificate is enough: it gives the same encryption as the more expensive kinds and is issued in minutes. Choose organisation validation (OV) when visitors or partners need to see your company name in the certificate, and extended validation (EV) when a regulator, bank or procurement process asks for it.
What is the difference between a wildcard and a multi-domain certificate?
A wildcard certificate covers one domain and every subdomain one level below it, such as shop.example.com and mail.example.com. A multi-domain certificate covers a list of different names, such as example.com and example.org, on a single certificate. Some multi-domain products can include wildcards as well.
How long does it take to issue a certificate?
A DV certificate is usually issued within minutes of you completing the domain check, which is a DNS record, a file on the site or an approval e-mail. OV typically takes one to three working days and EV somewhat longer, because the certificate authority verifies the company itself.
Can I buy a certificate for more than one year?
Yes. Multi-year terms are available at checkout, at a lower yearly rate than a single year.
Do I have to host with Karizanta to buy a certificate here?
No. A certificate bought here can be installed on any server or hosting provider. You receive the certificate and its intermediate chain in standard PEM format.
Can I resell these certificates?
Yes. Hosting companies and agencies can order through our API at reseller pricing from a prepaid balance. Contact us to have a reseller account opened.
